When I first read the original article I was wondering if the author was really being serious or just trying to plant a seed in a leg-pulling way. The ministers at the Nordic Council meeting dismissed the idea in about five minutes while struggling to keep a straight face, as expected. So I was amazed that there are so many reader commentators at the sites of Dagens Nyheter, Aftenposten, Jyllandsposten, and Helsingfors Dagblad who sounds sincerely excited about the suggestion. Maybe not a majority in either of them, but still way more than (I) expected. And I would have thought the Finns to be roughly as opposed to the suggestion as the Icelanders in Morgunblaðið, so the 78% just seemed totally off the chart high, making me curious. Thanks for taking the time to answer!

I don't know if you heard in the news about the debate article in the Swedish paper Dagens Nyheter earlier this week, suggesting a federation between the five Nordic countries. I have been looking around on news sites and blogs from all over the North to see how the suggestion has been received. What surprised me the most was that a poll in Iltalehti yielded 78% (Out of 6000+ votes) in favour of a federation. I'm actually very surprised by such a high figure in a Finnish language paper. Do you think this is even close to being representative for the general opinion?
Thanks!

I checked out your blog, though I couldn't really understand anything since I don't speak Finnish. I did check out the pictures, which I thought were pretty cool. Did you take them?
