About meI read every day usually at bed time as the day is so busy with kids and work etc. I read intensively on holiday and take a large collection with me. I have a husband and 2 children. My children of 15 and 13 have picked up the reading bug and I believe its the foundation of their fantastic intellect and vocabulary.
About my libraryI love modern fiction written by women. I realised this after scanning my bookshelves! Ann Tyler is top of my list. I buy paperbacks or loan from the public library. I am hesitant about joining a book club as I cannot read books that I would never choose myself. I am trying to widen the range of books I read with the help of BCF members.
I still haven't completed adding all the books in the house yet.

Happy reading - let me know what you think of it.
I'm reading The Woman in Black at the moment - have had very little time to read lately but hope to put that right tomorrow as I'm on leave and plan to ignore the housework! Hoping to read Once a Time in England soon - it's in our branch at the moment.

I've just noticed you've started reading Once Upon a Time in England - let me know how you find it. I'm about 3/4 of the way through and I've felt all sorts of things about the book from high to low - it's been a strange reading experience for me so far!

Thank you for your comment but it was sent to me, also DAVID MITCHELL, but not the one you intended your message for. Librarything have a number of publications listed under one DAVID MITCHELL but in fact there are several. My book, written in two volumes, is called A BOY FROM NOWHERE and you can read about it on my PROFILE
or on my website www.davidjmitchell.co.uk. You may also like to see what those 'down under' are reading about me. If so - please visit:
http://www.aussieauthors.com/global.
May I add one thing - if you do buy my book you will read how I was greatly inspired as a boy by a British films called DANGEROUS MOONLIGHT the theme music of which was THE WARSAW CONCERTO. I badly wanted to learn to play piano - alas, coming from a poor family there was no money for lessons. So I announced that I would teach myself ! Everybody broke into peals of laughter of course - but I succeeded. After publication of my Volume One people asked me WELL- SO YOU TAUGHT YOURSELF TO PLAY PIAN0 - BUT HOW WELL ? It is not for to say how well and so I burned 2 CDs which serve as a demonstration of the level I managed to achieve. If you do buy my book I would be happy to send copies of these CDs to you. You can communicate with me via the HOME page on my website where there is an option to send me an email.

I asked one of the ladies I help if she would let me order a book on her behalf for her to read. It was 'Worldwide Adventures in Love' and as I'd hoped she thought it was wonderful and found it a quick read. She said it was nice to read something so different.
Just thought I'd share that with you.
Hope you're keeping well.

You are now top of my 'Members With The Same Books' list we share 55 books so far.
I have been swapping books via RISI which is great and obviously your recommendations have been having an effect on my choices.

I have a wee recipe book addiction and although Delia's bible is great I think she has sold out of late - frozen mash and tins of mince? EH? Needless to say I wont be buying her most recent book.

I'm nearing the end of 'Reading in Bed' having had a lovely quiet day today in which to read a huge chunk of it. It's good and I'm finding myself thinking about the characters when I put it down. It took me a while to get into but that may have been because I wasn't giving it the time it deserved. Anyway it comes with my recommendation. Hope you enjoy it too - look forward to reading your comments.
bye for now
