I loved Mantel’s writing style and enjoyed this book.

Mantel gives a sharply philosophical look at the process of maturity - using the youthful experiences of her characters to highlighting their vitality, cruelty and motivations. She also provides sharp social commentary on the sixties.

I can highly recommend this author. ( )

Although I enjoyed this novel for the most part, there were some issues that made it difficult for me to give it five stars. The main issue in my mind, as in other reviewers', was the sudden conclusion of the novel; I was left wanting to know more. ( )
