Brown ... Just finished The Temporal Void and am going to start Flow my Tears, the Policeman Said pretty soon. So far, I liked the Pandoras Star/Judas Unchained series better than the Void trilogy, although the switching between fantasy/space opera is an interesting twist. #19 Flow My Tears, the Policeman Said
Once again, Dick mediates on alternate realities, and our perception of reality. It's also been optioned as a film adaptation. There are some interesting breaks in the narrative that I'm still puzzling out. Fascinating read. ... THE HEAD TRIP. Not too heavy, a personal exploration of the subject.
And fiction wise, I'm re-reading Phil Dick's FLOW MY TEARS, THE POLICEMAN SAID. And liking it very much, I add. One of Phil's top five or six... ... re-reading an old Phil Dick novel, THREE STIGMATA OF PALMER ELDRITCH and anticipate tackling two more, UBIK and FLOW MY TEARS, THE POLICEMAN SAID before the beginning of the new year. Research-oriented reading, you might say. I've read 'em all before but I wanted to re-familiarize ... I started on Philip K. Dick with Flow My Tears, the Policeman Said and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep when I was seventeen. Apparently I dove in headfirst and became an instant fan. Flow My Tears, the Policeman Said Philip K. Dick As I mentioned to Gene, portions of Phil Dick's FLOW MY TEARS, THE POLICEMAN SAID, were based on of BOOK OF ACTS. Phil's approach to religion veers into mysticism but it was certainly as important aspect of FLOW, COSMIC PUPPETS, UBIK, THREE STIGMATA etc. etc. ... with you and your spiritual beliefs.
Religious SF, now THERE'S an interesting sub-genre (and don't forget Dick's FLOW MY TEARS, THE POLICEMAN SAID, which might also fit into that niche and TOWING JEHOVAH, a brilliantly blasphemous novel by James Morrow).... ... Man Who Japed, The Man in the High Castle, Martian Time-slip, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, Ubik, Valis, Flow My Tears, The Policeman Said, A Maze of Death. Also some short story collections - The Little Black Box, and... er... I don't remember the titles of the others.
... ... and be taken seriously as a literary artist and I think as a result he sold short his SF stuff.
