Not only is it a fun book to read, but there are rhyming words on every page. It could also be a good book to read in the winter months since it deals with snow. Great book for kindergarten to first graders. ( )This is a great rhyming book for children. Cat in the hat made a big mess and had to get some friends to help. The cat and the hat gets the children in trouble by making a stain, even though the children tell him to go away. The stain gets bigger and bigger and messier and messier as the cat in the hat tries to clean up his mess. In the end, the stain goes away and all of the work gets done before Mom gets home. In this story the cat in the hat is back and thing time he did not bring thing one and thing two but her brought 26 other friends a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i,j,k,l,m,n,o,p,q,r,s,t,u,v,w,x,w,y,and z , who all live in his hat and they are all up to the same old tricks. Summery: The Cat in the Hat is back up to his old tricks. While Sally and her brother are shoveling snow, the Cat goes into their home and takes a bath. He leaves a pink ring in the tub that he wipes up with the children's mother's dress, which ends up then on the walls, and then on their father's shoes, and so on and so on until the pink spot ends up all over the yard. The Cat brings out all of his friends from inside his hat--cats A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z, and finally the smallest of them all, Voom. While all the others only make the mess worse, Voom gets it all clean in time for the children's mother to return. Reflection: What a cute story! I think this is my favorite Seuss book so far. I can't help but laugh out loud reading this book. I was a bit of a trouble-maker growing up, and can relate to the Cat. I would do something I knew I'd get in trouble for and try to fix it, only to have the "solution" make the problem worse. If only I'd had a Voom... Extension Ideas: I would use this book to get the children interested in writing poetry. I'd have the children work in groups to create a short poem. For a craft idea, the kids could make their own "Cat Hat" out of paper, and wear it while they share their group's poem with the class. no reviews | add a review

This time, Sally and her brother are stuck shoveling snow: "This was no time for play./ This was no time for fun./ This was no time for games./ There was work to be done." But--you guessed it--the laughing Hat Cat has other ideas, as he lets himself in to eat cake in their tub. He leaves behind "a big long pink cat ring," which he then handily cleans with "MOTHER'S WHITE DRESS!" The dress then loses its pink stain to the wall, then Dad's shoes, then the rug in the hall, until finally the Cat must call in some assistance: from inside his hat comes Little Cat A, then Littler Cats B, C, D, E, and so on, nested like dolls in ever tinier hats. With this pack of felines, Sally and her brother may get rid of those stains, but they'll likely never be rid of that rascally cat. As should be expected from the good doctor, The Cat in the Hat Comes Back provides an excellent reader (and alphabet primer) for those just learning, not to mention ample laughs for everyone else.
