Tom Strong is happily married, was brought up in isolation by scientifically-minded parents. He seems very much like Superman in that he sees no moral ambiguity about the world (or if he sees it, he ignores it.) Nice touches like Pneuman the robot and King Solomon the intelligent (and quite naff) ape. Over-the-top villains like an AI Aztec god, a magician/villain somewhat reminiscent of Moloch from Watchmen and a Nazi superwoman make for a fun romp. Tom Strong is somewhat of a Doc Savage homage. His parents take him to an island when born, and isolate him in a 5G environment on a special diet to build a superman. A volcano polishes them off and he ends up in Millenium City after making a superape and marrying a princess. His adventures tend towards a touch more of the Planetary type weirdness than Doc's though, with alternate universes, long lived nazi superwomen etc., the latter is the main storyline of this trade. Definitely fun stuff. http://graphicsf.blogspot.com/2007/06... Great at creating the illusion that Tom Strong was a classic golden age hero. Good art, creative solutions, glad that it was one long story after the first few comics. no reviews | add a review

Is this supposed to be a caricature or a real hero? I found it neither funny nor exciting, so I couldn't tell. (
